Enhancing Room Moisture
Vietnam is located in the tropical monsoon climate region, and the winter season is often very dry, especially when using heating devices, which can reduce the humidity in the room and affect everyone's health. Therefore, it is essential to balance the room's humidity to provide a comfortable environment for your family, especially for infants.
You can use humidifiers to increase the room's humidity. Note that regular maintenance of the humidifier is crucial to prevent bacteria and dust from being released into the air with the water vapor, affecting the respiratory system of children. Additionally, you can use a water basin in the room or damp towels to increase humidity.

Give the Machine Some Rest
Continuous use of heating devices can deplete the air in the room as the heating fan operates by burning oxygen, leading to air stagnation, breathing difficulties in children, and respiratory diseases. Therefore, it is advisable not to use the heater excessively and allow time for the air in the room to be replenished. Ideally, after using the heater for 1-2 hours, open the door to allow air circulation, replacing the stale dry air with a fresh air flow. This is beneficial for the respiratory system.
Prepare skin cream, moisturizer, and physiological saline solution
Using a heater can make the air in the room dry and hot, causing issues like dry nose, dry skin, and cracks, especially in infants and young children as their skin is usually very soft.
To avoid these issues, before using a heater, apply skin cream and moisturizer to your baby and regularly clean their nose with physiological saline solution to increase moisture. Additionally, increase your baby's daily water intake during the dry winter season.

Consider opening windows or using a ventilation fan
Many parents have a common misconception: in cold winter, the warmer and more airtight, the better. In reality, when you seal the room tightly, the hot air inside cannot circulate, leading to inhaling the same hot air and insufficient oxygen, causing breathlessness.
Allow natural ventilation by opening windows or using a fan to circulate air
At this moment, when using a heater, it's advisable to open windows or turn on a ventilation fan to allow air circulation in the room.
For infants and young children, parents should regularly check if the baby is sweating, as sweat can seep back into the baby's body and potentially cause illness.

Additional considerations when using a heater
- Place the heater on a flat, balanced surface.
- Avoid placing other objects on the heater's power source.
- Do not place the heater's power cord under a carpet.
- Turn off the heater when leaving to save energy and ensure the safety of all family members.
- Keep the heater away from damp areas.
- Position the heater at a safe distance from flammable items such as blankets, pillows, clothes, and paper (at least 90cm in front, 30cm on both sides, and 30cm at the back).
- Keep the heater at a safe distance from infants and young children (1.5 to 2 meters).
