You'll glide on the tranquil canal amidst lush greenery, where glimpses of church spires, rustic wooden houses, and swaying sails emerge.
The Beauty of Traveling to Russia from the Perspective of Vietnamese Tourists
Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Van, from Hanoi, recently embarked on a journey to the Land of the White Sun. Here are her reflections after the trip.
A massive ship, also a 5-6 story floating hotel, departs from the Moscow Canal, upstream on the Volga, carrying tourists across artificial and vast natural lakes. Countless dynamic natural and artificial landscapes unfold every second, like scenes from a fairy tale.
You'll hear the soothing sounds of rippling waves and the melodious wind, observe seagulls gracefully dancing under the morning light through your room window. The scenery is vibrant with fluffy white clouds drifting against the midday azure sky, or glowing red at sunset reflecting on the water, or shimmering gold in the middle of the night. Witnessing these scenes, you'll undoubtedly exclaim, 'Russia's nature is magnificent and breathtaking,' just like me and other passengers of various nationalities aboard the Lev Tolstoy on this maritime journey.

The remarkable feature of this European cruise is the scene of hundreds, even thousands of seagulls flapping wildly, swooping down to the lake surface every time the water ripples to catch fish, then gracefully soaring up to perch on both sides of the cruise ship. Tourists rush to the bow of the ship to enjoy the spectacle, then eagerly spill out onto the left side of the boat to admire and capture the image of Mother Volga facing the vast 'lake sea.'
Along the Volga – Baltic route, you traverse not just one lake but several lakes, each one vast. If you arrive in the evening on Lake White, you'll see silver-tipped waves lapping against the ship's hull, the wind creating a Buddha-like calm amidst the vast, endless sea; but when you wake up and look through the cabin window, you'll be in awe as you find yourself floating on a water surface so clear and calm, like a sparkling mirror in the morning sun. As I write these lines, I am sitting on the deck of the ship floating on Lake Onega – the second-largest lake in Europe, with an area of nearly ten thousand square kilometers, anticipating the moments of gliding on Lake Ladoga – the largest lake in Europe, also on this journey.

Immersing yourself in this space, you will be overwhelmed by the greatness and uniqueness of nature and human creations here. You feel like you've stepped into another world. No noisy traffic, no hustle and bustle, no dust, no congestion, no hurry. It is a space of freshness, purity, relaxation, and tranquility.
In addition to the majestic nature, Russia impresses with its cultural, architectural, and historical landmarks in both tangible and intangible forms. Having been to Versailles, Venice, Rome, the Vatican, Vienna, Amsterdam, or London... I still have to marvel at the uniqueness and grandeur of the Winter Palace, the Summer Palace, world cultural heritage sites, castles, churches, ancient villages... found here.
