In 'Memories of Hoi An,' 100 women gracefully parade on stage wearing 'ao dai' with a length exceeding 1,000 meters. This iconic image symbolizes the passage of time. Using modern stage design techniques, dynamic lighting, and subtle sound effects, the Vietnamese 'ao dai' will narrate captivating stories about Hoi An spanning 400 years for the audience.
500 professional actors
'Memories of Hoi An' brings together an impressive team of 500 professional actors and hundreds of support staff. Over the past few months, everyone has diligently rehearsed for the grand performance during the Tet Lunar New Year in 2018.
The advisory team consists of seasoned experts
Two years have been spent by the organizing team traversing the length of Vietnam, gathering materials for the conceptualization phase.
The live performance of Hội An Memories is proudly supported by a team of advisors, including cultural, historical, and traditional art researchers from Vietnam. Prominent figures such as Hội An scholar Hoàng Đạo Kính, director Việt Thanh, poet Lê Cảnh Nhạc, historian Dương Trung Quốc serve as script consultants. Musician Nguyễn Đức Trịnh – Deputy Permanent Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians' Association oversees the music aspect; lecturer Thanh Hằng from the Military Culture and Arts University takes charge of choreography; costume advice comes from artist and fine arts researcher Trịnh Quang Vũ.
Meanwhile, the audio effects, lighting, and stage effects are skillfully crafted by world-class experts from Sơn Thủy Thịnh Điền Hong Kong.
The grandstand accommodates 3,300 spectators
Every night, the story of “Hội An Memories” unfolds as a 'giant ship,' transporting over 3,300 spectators on a time-travel journey to 16th-17th century Hội An. The audience will traverse unexpected moments with deep and intense emotions.
