I am Dam San - a wealthy and renowned chief, married to the two sisters, Ho Nhi and Ho Bhi. While leading slaves and servants to work in the fields by the river, the bandits led by Chief Sat, Mtao Mxay, raided our village and abducted my wife, Ho Nhi. Upon hearing the news, I immediately went to the home of Mtao Mxay to rescue my wife and restore my honor.
Upon arriving at Mtao Mxay's house, I called out to him challengingly:
- Hey you, come down here! If you're brave enough, come down here and face me with a knife!
Mtao Mxay shouted back from atop his house:
- Hey you! I'm not coming down! My hands are busy holding my wife and me together, how could I come down to face you with a knife.
His mocking words fueled my anger and I couldn't tolerate any more insults, so I shouted threateningly:
- Come down, you! If you still refuse to come down, I'll split the floor of your veranda, tear apart the stairs of your house, set fire to your home, I'll destroy your entire house ...(Continued).
