The highlight of DJI RC (with screen) is my favorite, providing profound and excellent experiences.
For those who don't know, DJI Mini 3 Pro comes in 2 versions:- The standard handle version is DJI RC-N1, connecting the phone with a cable to serve as the screen, priced at 17,590,000 VND.
- The version with DJI RC - handle with a screen is priced at 21,590,000 VND.
Considering DJI RC as a streamlined version (a simpler version) of the DJI RC PRO controller released earlier alongside the DJI Mavic 3.
This controller comes with an integrated screen, making the process of starting and taking off the drone as simple as turning on the device and lifting the controller to fly. It streamlines many steps compared to the RC-N1 controller, providing an incredibly wonderful experience.Advantages
The first and most outstanding advantage is the screen's clarity; I was pleasantly surprised the first time I saw the images transmitted on this controller. The images are incredibly sharp, thanks to two factors:- DJI Mini 3 Pro uses DJI O3 transmission, a new type with numerous advantages and the capability to transmit smooth and powerful 1080P 60FPS, surpassing the DJI O2 transmission before.
- The second reason, of course, is the high-quality screen.
Previously, the beauty of the screen depended on the smartphone used, only at a relatively good level. Now, the display quality will be stable and consistent. I hope that future versions will also be equipped with controllers with screens to synchronize the display quality.
Brightness has been significantly improved, even at the highest level, and when used in bright outdoor conditions, I still have sufficient visibility to observe and fly without any difficulty. However, it's not yet the best for the smoothest flying experience; I noticed the controller has four screw legs, and I believe sunshades will soon be available to enhance the flying efficiency of the controller.A nice feature that DJI doesn't mention is the controller's built-in memory, although it's only around 4-5GB. Still, it's more than enough for users to back up, record the screen, capture screenshots, and save important documents.
Although I consider DJI RC a compact version of DJI RC PRO, the button layout and the number of buttons are not minimized. It still includes the essential 2 trigger buttons for recording and capturing, 2 rotating knobs for adjusting the tilt of the gimbal, and the remaining buttons can be assigned functions. Below are the customizable C1 and C2 buttons, and above are the RTH/emergency stop button, flight modes C - N - S, and the power button.
I typically assign the C1 and C2 buttons for recentering and camera parameters because I usually set the gimbal speed very low, around 3-5 degrees per second (default is 20 degrees per second). So, controlling the gimbal takes a long time and requires the assistance of the Recenter button.
A small detail is that the screen part protrudes slightly, making it less likely for my grip to get caught and providing better screen visibility.
There are two points that DJI doesn't mention: when not in use, you can press the power button to temporarily turn off the screen to save battery. Secondly, you can swipe down to access functions such as settings, screen recording, screenshot, view controller battery level, and more.Drawbacks
The first drawback is the controller's tendency to overheat. I've experienced overheating during a flight at noon, causing me to pause and wait for it to cool down before continuing.
The second one is that DJI RC lacks a top antenna; it only has signal receivers with two indicators at the top. This makes it more challenging to fly, as you can't quickly adjust the antenna direction and have to turn both yourself and the controller towards the aircraft.
The third issue is that the DJI RC sticks are excessively small; during usage, I've dropped them quite a few times, always causing anxiety when taking them out or putting them back. I once dropped them into a drain and had to lift the drain cover to retrieve them—a rather frightening experience.DJI Mini 3 Pro
Design
The design of DJI Mini 3 Pro represents a significant breakthrough, introducing numerous new features, with the front section and gimbal assembly being particularly noteworthy.
DJI emphasizes the ability to tilt up to 60 degrees and rotate vertically, achieved by creating a recess in the front part of the drone, providing space for the gimbal to tilt upward.
Previously, DJI drones could only tilt up around 15-30 degrees or more, facing wing obstructions, limiting shooting angles from below. Now, with DJI Mini 3 Pro, you can unleash your creativity without many constraints.
Vertical filming has become an essential aspect of the modern era, with platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts favoring vertical frames. DJI Mini 3 Pro allows complete vertical camera rotation, enabling vertical filming with full resolution, making it an invaluable tool for creators on these platforms.Configuration
Internally upgraded significantly, DJI Mini 3 Pro can now capture 4K60p and 4K30p HDR, a leap from DJI Mini 2's 4K30p. Such high resolution indicates that the Mini 3 Pro has undergone enhancements in processing power to handle such large resolutions.
These capabilities are further enhanced with a larger-sized sensor, making low-light filming more robust than ever on the Mini series.Image and Video Quality
In terms of video quality, Mini 3 Pro has elevated beyond the classification of being just for beginners. From color accuracy to detail, contrast, it must be said that even in the normal profile, DJI has done exceptionally well.
You can confidently use it for your high-quality travel, vlog, and leisure videos without any hesitation.
As for its low-light capabilities, I've been genuinely impressed; the videos are crisp, colors vibrant, and, most importantly for night footage, it maintains clarity and vivid colors that satisfy the viewers.
Mini 3 Pro has performed exceptionally well, but when scrutinizing details, you'll still notice some noise. This is somewhat inevitable, considering Mini 3 Pro is a compact drone weighing just under 249 grams. Therefore, it's entirely acceptable. I can assert that DJI Mini 3 Pro may find it challenging to outshine DJI Air 2s.
If the videos are stunning, then the images must be even more impressive. I'm extremely pleased with the JPG photos taken with Mini 3 Pro. The colors are vibrant, eye-catching, clear, and the details are excellent. However, when it comes to RAW files, I've encountered some issues.
While adjusting and coloring RAW files, it feels somewhat lacking; the color spectrum is not as extensive as I imagined. The 48MP RAW files, weighing 80-100MB each, disappoint in terms of editing capabilities.Flight Duration
There are two points I want to emphasize: I highly recommend getting the extended Fly More Kit Plus version instead of the non-Plus version, and secondly, you won't have to worry about flight duration.
The Fly More Kit Plus version is priced at 5,490,000 VND, while the non-Plus version is 4,090,000 VND, with just a 1.4 million VND difference. However, you'll enjoy an incredibly impressive flight duration.
Throughout the flying process, I never had to think about battery life. I could take off, record everything I needed for 25-30 minutes, and still have around 30% battery when landing.Flight Experience
DJI Mini 3 Pro, along with the DJI RC controller, delivers incredibly fantastic flight experiences. I just need to unfold and take off; the time needed for preparation is significantly reduced.
The faster and more compact take-off makes me want to fly more and become more enthusiastic about flying. Arriving at a beautiful spot, I can quickly unfold, take off, and neatly pack everything away. It's much more convenient compared to before when I was often reluctant due to numerous steps and cords to remember.
The Mini 3 Pro performs even smoother in flight; DJI doesn't elaborate much on the motors or the aircraft's power. However, I find the DJI Mini 3 Pro very powerful, with excellent wind resistance, ensuring precise and stable flights without deviation or control difficulties seen in previous models. Conclusion
I can confidently confirm that DJI Mini 3 Pro is the most worthwhile drone to buy at the current moment. You'll have a powerful, stable, and easy-to-fly drone. The image quality is incredibly impressive, excelling in night flights and capturing 48MP photos. The controller with a built-in screen enhances your flying experience, making operations faster and more efficient.
