Within the Dragon Ball universe, Namekians are not renowned for their formidable strength. So, how do they manage to create such powerful Dragon Balls?
Speaking of Dragon Ball, aside from the overpowering main characters and a continuous influx of new antagonists, one noteworthy element is the set of 7 Dragon Balls. Though not the central focus for a while, these Dragon Balls play a crucial role with their immense power benefiting both the protagonists and antagonists.
When a user gathers all 7 Dragon Balls, they can summon the Dragon God and make a wish. One can wish for almost anything, from eternal youth to the resurrection of the dead. Throughout Dragon Ball, various versions of these balls have been introduced, with the standout being the Namekian Dragon Balls – considered the progenitors of Earth's Dragon Balls. Originally created by Earth's guardian, Kami, a Namekian, and later reproduced by Dende.
The Namekian Dragon Balls are the second type to appear in the Dragon Ball universe. Unlike Earth's Dragon Balls, they have a pale orange hue, weigh about 5 kg, and are the size of a basketball. The Namekian Dragon Balls are considered the 'authentic' version compared to Earth's, as they are easier to locate with a radar and can be reused in just 130 days. Additionally, Namek's Dragon Balls can grant three wishes and perform feats that Earth's Dragon Balls cannot, such as multiple resurrections.
As we know, the Namekian race is not inherently stronger than other extraterrestrial races. Frieza's henchmen easily defeated most warriors on this planet. Despite their physical inferiority compared to Saiyans or other alien races, Namekians are the only race capable of creating their own set of Dragon Balls. How did they achieve this feat?
To address this question, let's first delve into the original Dragon Balls that birthed all the rest. It is known that millions of trillions of years ago, the supreme deity Zalama created the super Dragon Balls for Universe 6 and Universe 7. Despite the Namekians' numerous failed attempts to locate them, the wise Elder Guru had a daring idea. Using a fragment of the super Dragon Balls found by the Namekian people, he crafted a new set. While this didn't sit well with the Kais, given their belief in the inherently kind and gentle nature of the Namekians, the deities chose to turn a blind eye, even though it could disrupt the cosmic order.
Being directly fashioned from fragments of the super Dragon Balls, these Dragon Balls are smaller and much weaker than the original but can be used for three wishes instead of just one. This answers how these Dragon Balls continue to exist. To unravel the mysteries of their creation, we must explore the power of the Namekians.
The Namekian race comprises two classes: warrior-class with combat skills and the support-class called the Dragon Clan, possessing magical abilities. The Dragon Clan has various magical capabilities, including healing and the power to create objects. This explains why Kami and Piccolo can wear clothing seemingly created from thin air, as they are part of the Dragon Clan. This same reality-manifesting magic is how the Namekians of the Dragon Clan can create Dragon Balls.
As the Namekians were the only race with their own set of Dragon Balls, they could use magic to create and replicate them. Each set of Dragon Balls is linked to its creator and turns into stone after their death. According to the hypothesis, each member of the Dragon Clan can create their own set, similar to what Kami did when he arrived on Earth. However, this process takes a considerable amount of time, making modifying an existing set of Dragon Balls much more feasible, as demonstrated by Dende when he replaced Kami.
Technically, Piccolo is a member of the Dragon Clan, but it remains unclear whether he can create his own set of Dragon Balls. After Piccolo fused with Kami, the Dragon Balls on Earth became inert, and he couldn't restore them. It seems that Kami's advanced magical abilities did not transfer to Piccolo during their fusion. Therefore, it's plausible that Piccolo might be unable to achieve this feat.
