Did you know that you have the option to play your personal music within GTA 5 on your PC? If the radio selection in Los Santos doesn't quite hit the mark for you, you can integrate your own tracks into the game's settings, ensuring they accompany your driving adventures. Let's guide you through the process of enjoying your locally stored tunes in Grand Theft Auto V.
Steps
Transferring the Music

Access the “Rockstar” folder on your hard drive. Use the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start menu. Enter “Rockstar” in the search bar and choose the “Rockstar Games” folder from the results to navigate to the Rockstar folder.

Navigate to the “User Music” folder. Within the “Rockstar Games” folder, double-click on the “GTA V” folder, where you'll find the “User Music” folder.

Insert your music files. Double-click on the “User Music” folder to open it. Right-click anywhere inside the folder, then select “Paste” from the menu to transfer the music files you previously selected here.
- There's no restriction on the number of music files you can place here, but you must have a minimum of four music files within the folder to play them in the game.
Adding the Music

Launch GTA V. Click on the game icon located on your desktop to initiate it. Wait for the game to complete loading and display the main menu. From there, you can select either “Continue” to resume your saved game progress or opt for “New Game” to commence anew. Subsequently, you'll be directed to the game interface.

Access the Game Settings. While in-game, press the “ESC” key on your keyboard to unveil the in-game menu. Navigate using the arrow keys and choose “Settings” from the upper navigation bar. Press Enter to enter and view the Game Settings screen.

Explore your game's audio settings. Scroll down the left-hand menu panel and select “Audio.” This action will reveal the audio settings for your game on the main panel of the Settings screen.

Initiate a music scan. Scroll down the main panel and opt for “Perform Full Scan for Music” from the available choices. The game will commence scanning for music files within the User Music folder. While the scan is ongoing, other options will be temporarily disabled and grayed out. The duration of the scan depends on the number of music files in the folder.

Exit the Settings. Once the scan is complete and audio options are re-enabled, press the “ESC” key to exit the in-game settings and return to the game interface. Your modifications will be automatically saved.
Enjoying the Music

Enter a vehicle. Approach any vehicle and press the “F” key to hop in. Once seated, the car's radio will start playing automatically.
- Each vehicle comes with its own radio, providing variety beyond just cars.

Activate your playlist. While in the vehicle, use the dot “.” or comma “,” keys to cycle through radio stations until you reach the “Self Radio” option. This station will play the music you've added to the “User Music” folder.
Switch tracks. To switch to the next song in your personalized playlist, press either the equal “=” or dash “-” key on your keyboard, and the radio will move to the subsequent track.
