Store-bought chili sauce might be cheap, but it lacks that special touch. I prefer to grab fresh chili peppers from the market and whip up a batch of homemade chili sauce. Ladies, take note – your family will thank you for this flavorful addition to your meals!
Ingredients for making the most incredible homemade chili sauce:
+ Chili peppers: 1kg
300g of peeled and cleaned garlic
500ml of white vinegar
3 tablespoons of sugar (remember, just 3 tablespoons, too much sweetness can be overwhelming)
2 teaspoons of sea salt
Homemade Chili Sauce Recipe:
- Wash the peppers thoroughly, remove the stems, and seeds (if you don't mind the heat, you can leave the seeds in). Make sure to wear gloves while handling the peppers. Trust me, if you touch the peppers without gloves, you'll regret it tomorrow morning! And don't even think about scratching your face or touching your eyes if you feel itchy; otherwise, nobody can save you from the burn!

- Peel the garlic, wash it clean, and let it dry.

- Put the peppers, garlic, and white vinegar in a blender and blend them together. Then transfer the mixture to a saucepan, bring it to a boil, reduce the heat, add sugar and salt, and simmer for about 15 minutes. While cooking, make sure to keep the kitchen well-ventilated, or you might end up coughing from the pepper fumes.

- Turn off the heat, transfer the chili sauce mixture into a clean dry jar (glass jars work best), cover tightly, let it cool, and store it in the refrigerator. It stays delicious for up to 6 months!

- For extra caution, you can sterilize the glass jar in boiling water for a few minutes, then let it dry before pouring in the chili sauce! I highly recommend this sterilization step.
