This time, the whole group opted for Food Street on Điện Biên Phủ, one of the establishments of the Food Center system. Partly because of the spacious, beautiful restaurant space, convenient for gatherings, and partly because this place offers both hotpot and Thai dishes, making it a versatile choice to warm up.

Gathering for a meal at Food Center, with both hotpot and spicy Thai dishes, perfect for warming up in the cold season.
At Food Street, the first thing you must try is undoubtedly the spicy and sour Thai hotpot because the broth is incredibly rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of ginger aroma, intense kaffir lime leaf fragrance, and the spicy, tingling taste of Thai chili, paired with fresh seafood and mushrooms that are absolutely mouthwatering!

The snacks and side dishes are also super reasonable.
Although I experienced the disappointment of having Food Street's Thai hotpot spill, there's a slight sadness knowing homemade versions won't quite capture the deliciousness found here. Every restaurant has its secret broth recipe, forming its unique brand identity. Yet, amidst that meal, I fell in love with another equally delightful dish from Food Center: the tomyum sauce chicken.

The crispy, fragrant, and flavorful tomyum sauce chicken
Once you've tasted this dish, you'll instantly forget about ordinary fast-food fried chicken, mesmerized by its crispy texture and indescribable richness. It's delicious, and the best part? Making it at home isn't as challenging as whipping up Thai hotpot. So, if you ever crave it but hesitate to dine out, you can easily whip it up at home in about 20 - 25 minutes!
Preparing the ingredients for tomyum sauce chicken
+ Chicken meat, tomyum sauce (1 spoon is enough), lemongrass, fresh lime/lemon juice, chili, galangal
+ Chicken eggs, coriander leaves, crispy frying flour
After cleaning and preparing, take the chicken meat (usually thigh or wing meat is preferred, but breast meat works well too) and rinse it with salt, then chop it into bite-sized pieces.
Crack the chicken eggs into a bowl, mix thoroughly with crispy frying flour, then add the chicken meat and toss until evenly coated.

Cut the chicken into pieces, thoroughly coat with frying flour
Peel and thinly slice the galangal (I prefer finely chopping for better aroma and flavor absorption). Remove seeds from the chili, wash thoroughly, and finely chop the coriander leaves and lemongrass. Then mix everything together with the tomyum sauce until well combined.
Heat cooking oil and fry the chicken until evenly golden. Pour the freshly made tomyum sauce mixture over the chicken, stir well, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for a few more minutes to allow the sauce to infuse into the chicken, enhancing its flavor. But remember to control the heat to prevent burning.

Once the chicken has absorbed the sauce, it's ready to serve hot
This winter brings the fragrant aroma of galangal, lemongrass, and chili-infused crispy fried chicken. It's spicy yet tantalizingly numbing, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and so flavorful that your rice bowl will empty faster than you expect. Remember to prepare extra rice—you'll need it!
