Ingredients for Steamed Meat Sandwich:
- Bread
- 1 purple onion
- 200g lean meat
- 100g beef
- 1/2 yam (optional)
- 1/2 carrot
- 50g shiitake mushrooms
- 2 stalks of spring onions
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 chili pepper
- Seasonings: sugar, salt, fish sauce, seasoning powder, vinegar, cooking oil,...
- Pickled vegetables, fresh greens, scallion oil, roasted peanuts, fried shallots for serving...
Instructions for Making Steamed Meat Sandwich:
- Peel and finely chop the purple onion and garlic. Wash the spring onion leaves, remove the roots, and finely chop. Finely chop the chili pepper too.

- Clean the beef and lean meat, then finely chop them. Alternatively, you can buy pre-ground meat from the supermarket or local market.
- Soak shiitake mushrooms in warm water until they expand, then rinse thoroughly and finely chop.
- Peel and wash the yam and carrot, then finely chop them as well.

- Heat a pan with a little cooking oil, sauté the purple onion until fragrant. Then add the finely chopped lean meat and beef, stir-fry until cooked through, season with 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder.

- Next, add in the chopped yam, carrot, 50g of finely chopped shiitake mushrooms, and finely chopped spring onions, stir-fry until cooked, then turn off the heat.
- Prepare the fish sauce by mixing 2 small cups of sugar with 1 cup of fish sauce. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then dilute with warm water in a 1:1 ratio. Add finely chopped garlic, chili, pickled vegetables, and 1 tablespoon of vinegar to create the accompanying fish sauce.

- Cut the bread into slices of suitable size, sprinkle water on both sides of the bread, then steam for about 5 minutes.

- After steaming, spread a little scallion oil on the bread, then add the minced meat, roasted peanuts, and fried shallots on top to complete. Steamed bread can be served with fresh greens and sweet and sour fish sauce, it's delicious!
