Inserting a PDF file into Excel allows for quick access to the desired PDF, enhancing efficiency when referencing PDFs while working with Excel data.
To insert a PDF file into an Excel spreadsheet, first click the Insert ribbon on the Excel toolbar.
Then, look to the Text group located in the upper right corner of the Insert toolbar.
Click on the Object option in this group.
The Object function window will appear on your interface. Open the Create New tab, select Foxit Reader PDF Document from the Object type list, then press OK to begin inserting the PDF file.
Select the PDF file you want to insert from your computer folder, then click Open to insert the file.
You will see the image of the first page of the PDF inserted into your Excel file.
When you double-click on this image, the PDF file you want to insert will open immediately.
However, if you don't want to insert an entire page of the PDF into your Excel file but just want it to occupy a small corner under the icon, you can check the Display as icon option when setting up the file insertion.
Then, the inserted image will appear as an icon displayed below the Display as icon line along with the text Foxit Reader PDF Document.
After that, the Excel interface will display the icon symbol of the PDF file reader software. When you double-click on that icon, the PDF file you inserted will be opened.
Alternatively, you can click on Change icon to alter the appearance and name below the icon. Click on Browse to select the icon file you desire.
For Windows computers, icon files are located in the System32 folder of This PC. You can choose to access them through the following paths:

The display icon for the inserted PDF file will be the image icon you have chosen:
If you do not select any icon shape, it will appear blank with the caption text you entered in Caption.
Similar to inserting the first page of a PDF into Excel, you simply need to double-click on the icon image, and your PDF file will open.
