According to the renowned Apple insider @L0vetodream, Apple is actively working to unveil an iPhone featuring Touch ID beneath the screen in the near future.

Rumors about this iPhone have been circulating for an extended period, with various prominent leakers, including Apple's Ming-chi Kuo. However, despite these speculations, as of the current moment, even with the release of the iPhone 12, this 'future' iPhone has not yet materialized.

In a Thursday tweet, prominent leaker @L0vetodream stated that Apple is planning to reintroduce Touch ID to the iPhone through an under-display mechanism. Additionally, Leaker Jon Prosser shared similar information. Specifically, the tweet mentioned MESA uts for iPhone. MESA is believed to be the codename for the new Touch ID, while uts signifies Under the screen.

Rumors about an in-screen fingerprint sensor for the iPhone first emerged before the launch of the iPhone X. Despite Apple choosing Face ID for its flagship iPhones since then, a substantial number of patents and patent applications indicate that Apple is still working on implementing Touch ID beneath the screen.
