Bà Đen Mountain, standing at 986m and located in Tây Ninh, 110km away from Ho Chi Minh City, is a popular destination for adventurous young people. As a young woman, you can successfully conquer Bà Đen Mountain by following my guide below:
What to Prepare Before Climbing Bà Đen Mountain?
1. Mental Preparation
Unlike boys, we girls often have weaker spirits, tend to get discouraged more easily, and are often labeled as 'dependent' on trips to Bà Đen Mountain, Tây Ninh. In reality, this is a relatively adventurous travel experience, so proactive and self-conscious spirits need to be emphasized more than ever. (I always remind myself like that)

Understand, remember, and accept these things before you decide to climb Bà Đen Mountain:
- This is an adventure, there is no insurance, it cannot be as safe as taking a cable car or slide (priced at 80k/person, safer but less thrilling)
- You will have to climb the mountain just like everyone else, plus a personal backpack weighing 3-4kg throughout the journey that no one will help carry

2. Building Physical Strength
Physical fitness is crucial for any mountain climbing or trekking adventure. Knowing this, I meticulously prepared my physical fitness, specifically planning workout routines to enhance endurance and flexibility in my legs.

Tips for Building Physical Endurance Before Hiking Bà Đen Mountain:
- Exercise 1: Squat Stand: While wearing a 3-4kg hiking backpack with a waist belt, continuously squat stand, rising onto your toes when standing up, and rest when tired. Practice for 10-15 minutes daily. Consistently practice for at least 10 days before going. => Minimize cramps, muscle pain when hiking Bà Đen Mountain.
- Exercise 2: Toe Raises: Perform high toe raises then slowly lower them to the ground, rest when tired. Practice 5-10 minutes daily. Self-train while moving indoors. => Minimize cramps, ankle sprains when hiking with toe.
- Exercise 3: Endurance Running: Run for about 20-30 minutes daily. The earlier you practice, the better. => Improve endurance when hiking.
3. Knowledge Preparation
Before Hiking Bà Đen Mountain in Tây Ninh, I spent a few days researching essential trekking knowledge, including:

- Lúc tối thì ngắm nhìn thành phố Tây Ninh lung linh ánh điện, sáng ra thì ngắm cả thiên nhiên hùng vĩ, đồng ruộng mênh mông.
- Đêm đến có thể nướng thịt ăn picnic (nếu đoàn chuẩn bị trước đó)

Lưu ý dọn rác nếu bạn ăn picnic, đặc biệt là những đồ khó tiêu hủy, túi nilon thì hãy đốt hoặc cầm về nhé.
Which itinerary should I choose for climbing Bà Đen mountain?
If you do some research, you'll find that climbing Bà Đen mountain offers various itineraries suitable for different difficulty levels. In my opinion, the most suitable routes for girls are:
- Bà Đen mountain via power line route: This route offers moderate difficulty, perfect for those who are new to trekking like me. It's a path commonly used by locals, with stairs and clear markings along the way. There are no water stations or eateries on the route. You have to reach the intersection before the entrance gate, turn left twice to reach Aunt Năm's refreshment stand.

- Climbing Bà Đen mountain via temple route: This is the easiest route, just follow the entrance gate as locals do. It's crowded and has many water stations, but feels more like visiting a temple than climbing a mountain. (If you choose the temple route, a pair of sandals is enough)
- Climbing Bà Đen mountain via water pipe route, Ma Thiên Lãnh route: For experienced trekking enthusiasts. Note that hiring a guide is mandatory.
When going, I head straight from Ho Chi Minh City to Tây Ninh, after a day of climbing, I stay in the city to rest, consider it as a reward. You can check out some affordable hotels in Tây Ninh where I stayed or were recommended by friends.
Where are the best photo spots while climbing Bà Đen mountain?
Throughout the entire journey of climbing Bà Đen mountain, you'll be able to admire the beautiful scenery of the untouched mountain forests, perfect for capturing memorable photos. There are 2 spots you should check-in once you're here:
- Rocky peak: This is a must-visit check-in spot for almost everyone climbing Bà Đen mountain. In addition to the view overlooking the lush green rice fields, this place is also a fantastic spot for 'cloud hunting' and creating amazing virtual-living moments!

- Rocky caves: During the mountain climbing journey, you may find refuge in some rocky caves. They are particularly useful if the weather turns rainy. Sharing instant noodles in the cave with friends is the most memorable moment in this 'exhausting leg journey'.
My twenties, alongside days of 'slacking off', included such an exciting trip of climbing Bà Đen mountain. How about you? Would you dare to try it?
