The number of users experiencing Instagram Stories' new interface or this change remains unclear. A spokesperson confirmed that the trial began appearing for a 'small group' of Instagram users last month, but did not comment on when it will be rolled out more widely.
While the company has been upgrading the functionality of the Instagram web version, the interface of the Stories feature still feels cluttered and unsuitable for larger screens. Hence, while this might not be the biggest change, it will be a notable improvement for anyone spending a lot of time browsing Instagram outside its mobile app.
