During the recent Google I/O developer conference, Google unveiled Android P. Additionally, the search giant also disclosed a new feature in the next Android version named Digital Wellbeing, enabling users to track and limit phone usage.
It seems like Instagram is following Google's lead as recent reports suggest that the photo and video-sharing app from Facebook is about to add a new feature called 'Usage Insights,' allowing users to see the time they spend on this social media app.
Instagram CEO, Kevin Systrom, has also confirmed the upcoming time management tool on Twitter:
App investigator Jane Manchun Wong was the first to discover the Usage Insights tool through hidden code within the Instagram app package for Android. The Usage Insights tool will display the time users spend on the platform each day. This way, users can know how much time they spend using this social media service each day and plan to manage their time better.
Currently, there is no information available about when Instagram will officially release the new tool for all users. Additionally, Wong also reveals that Instagram is experimenting with other new features such as emoji reaction icons and the @ symbol to tag friends in comments.
