Instagram continues to focus on enhancing the live streaming experience and has announced some minor changes to make live streaming and saving live videos easier on the platform. The most significant update is that Streamers are no longer limited to live sessions lasting 60 minutes. Instead, they can live stream on Instagram for up to 4 hours. This extended time frame applies to all Instagram users globally, provided they have no history of IP violations or policy breaches.

Users will also be able to view their live streams in a private archive, similar to Stories and Posts, for up to 30 days after broadcasting. They can choose to download the content and share it elsewhere. In its announcement about the recent changes, the company mentions that the extended live streaming time helps fitness instructors teach for longer durations and allows social activists to connect with their community for extended conversations.
