Owned by Facebook, the service notes that users with compromised accounts often have photos deleted without any means of recovery. The new feature allows users to recover deleted photos and videos, but only after they have verified their identity through messages or email. Similarly, they can permanently delete content from their accounts.
Subsequently, the 'Recently deleted' folder will store photos, videos, Reels short videos, IGTV videos, and stories you have deleted from your account. Deleted stories will be permanently removed from that folder after 24 hours if they are not saved in your archive, while other deleted content types will exist for up to 30 days.
To access the new folder, simply go to Settings in the latest version of the Instagram app and select Account. This new feature is being rolled out to all users.
