Primarily, Instagram is developing measures to make it more challenging for adults with suspicious behavior to interact with minors. This may include restricting these adults from viewing teenagers' accounts in Suggested Users, preventing them from discovering teenage content in Reels or Explore, and automatically hiding their comments on teenagers' public posts.
Instagram also recently added a new step in the account creation process, requiring users below a certain age to choose between a private and public account. By informing minors about the consequences of each choice, the company encourages them to create private profiles.
Lastly, the company announced guidelines for new parents, developed in collaboration with local organizations in countries like Argentina, Brazil, India, the United States, etc. This will help parents better understand the workings of privacy settings and safety tools.
