It appears that Intel's Arc GPU series is poised to usher in a fierce competition against Nvidia and AMD.
(Thethaovanhoa.vn) - It seems like Intel's Arc GPU lineup is set to intensify the competition with Nvidia and AMD.
Intel's Arc GPU lineup seems geared up to bring a robust competition against Nvidia and AMD across all market segments. Currently, one significant weakness of this new GPU lineup is its limited compatibility with older games that have been around for a while.

However, Intel is determined to enhance the gaming versatility of Arc GPUs. The company recently rolled out a driver update focusing on DirectX 9 performance, significantly boosting processing capabilities for older applications and games.
DirectX 9 is an age-old graphics API in the Windows environment, now replaced by more modern technologies like DirectX 12 and Vulkan. Nevertheless, many games and applications still use DirectX, such as popular titles like Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2.
Initially, Intel didn't incorporate full hardware support for DirectX 9 into their Arc graphics cards. Consequently, depending on the GPU, it had to rely on Intel's software drivers to translate commands from older APIs into modern code.
Intel has now updated its graphics drivers to enhance DirectX 9 performance, promising an average FPS boost of up to 1.8 times faster.
The company stated in a blog post: “Alongside the fantastic average frame rate increase, the overall experience and smoothness have improved even further. Looking at FPS, you'll see the improvement is over 2 times in CS:GO, and gamers will easily notice the difference immediately”.
