The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort stands as the sole resort in Da Nang to set a record never before seen in the global tourism industry, clinching the prestigious title of “World's Most Luxurious Resort” for the fourth consecutive time at the World Travel Awards 2017 ceremony held on December 10th in Phu Quoc. It's undeniable that 2017 marked a triumphant year for this Da Nang hotel.

In 2017, the number of contenders vying for this category nearly tripled compared to 2016. Luxury resorts in Da Nang surpassed 30 representatives from various continents and territories, including Four Seasons Resort at Jumeirah Beach (Dubai), The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel (USA), and Ayada (Maldives).
During the award ceremony, Mr. Graham Cooke, President of the World Travel Awards organization, remarked that a resort winning the world's most luxurious category for four consecutive years has never happened before in the 24-year history of the World Travel Awards. According to him, this is a record that will be hard to break in the history of world tourism, even in the coming years.

The La Maison 1888 restaurant at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was also honored in the “2017 World's Most Luxurious Fine Dining Restaurant” category. The Harnn Heritage Spa within the resort was also recognized in the dual categories of “Best Resort Spa in Vietnam” and “Best Resort Spa in Asia”.

To attain these awards, the Vietnamese resort received the highest number of votes from leading experts and top-level executives in the resort tourism industry from over 140 countries and territories worldwide.

Previously, in June 2017, the resort simultaneously received four awards at the World Travel Awards for Asia-Pacific region, including: Asia's Most Luxurious Resort 2017; Vietnam's Premier Resort 2017; Asia's Finest Dining Restaurant 2017 – La Maison 1888; and Asia's Most Luxurious Villa 2017 – Sun Peninsula Residence Villa. The total number of international awards that InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort currently possesses is over 70 awards.
