Many Android devices now support dual SIM cards on a single device. In a recent post on the Android Blog, Google revealed that Android 5.1 Lollipop would introduce significant changes, starting with the support for dual SIM on a single device, catering to devices with more than one SIM slot, such as the prominent Samsung devices.
This feature proves beneficial for users who share a phone with others due to budget constraints, combining SIM cards on one device. It is particularly useful for Android One devices.
Next up is a feature that Google values, similar to Apple's approach. Android 5.1 will provide Device Protection to secure users against theft or loss, ensuring complete security until it reaches the rightful owner and is logged into the correct Google account. Similar to Apple's Activation Lock, this feature operates even if the device is reset to factory settings by a malicious actor.
Android 5.1 also introduces support for HD voice calling, delivering authentic calls between two devices running Android 5.1, such as the Nexus 6. Additionally, Android 5.1 Lollipop addresses existing issues, improving performance, WiFi connectivity, and Bluetooth device control through Quick Setting.
The official release of Android 5.1 Lollipop update is here as of today (10/3). If you own a Nexus device, you can promptly update your device now.
