Perhaps many of you have heard of iCheck, it's the QR code/barcode scanning app with the largest user base and scan rate in Vietnam. I've recently started using it for a couple of days and have some insights to share as well as an introduction to this app.What is iCheck?
iCheck is an application for product information lookup through scanning barcodes or QR codes on products. In iCheck, users can scan barcodes to retrieve information about the product, gaining specific insights into its origin, distributor, and reviews from other iCheck users.
iCheck was established in 2015, so it's been 6 years now. Over the past 6 years, they've achieved certain successes: 2 million monthly users on the iCheck app, 20 million app downloads, 500 million scans, and 600 thousand product reviews on the app. Additionally, iCheck is now a strategic partner of GS1 (European Article Numbering Association) and a member of the Vietnam Barcode Association. Therefore, product information on the GS1 system is connected to iCheck's database, making it easy for users to access.How to use iCheck for product scanning
Basically, the iCheck app can check any product barcode. First, you can download the iCheck app from the App Store or Play Store, create an account, and provide necessary information.
Using iCheck is very simple. After opening the app, you'll see it has a user interface similar to e-commerce apps. The iCheck app itself has many features, but the main focus is still on quickly accessing information about any product.
When you scan the barcode of any product, you'll receive the following basic information:- Product image.
- Product origin.
- Company owning the product.
- User reviews about the product.
During usage, there are times when you'll encounter products with red or green checkmarks. Products displaying a green checkmark when scanned are ones that iCheck has verified information for according to GS1 standards. These products will show additional information to make it easier and more reassuring for you to understand the product you're about to buy or have bought. One feature I particularly like when scanning barcodes with iCheck is that I can find other related products from the manufacturer, giving me more choices and insights into that manufacturer. 
I've read and checked on iCheck's website, and they mention that in the future, iCheck will develop an e-wallet feature. I also noticed that iCheck suggests places to buy items you've scanned, saving you time from searching for where to buy the product you just scanned.
Most everyday consumer goods from major brands can be scanned for price reference, where to buy, or the origin. Some notable brands I've seen collaborating with iCheck include Nutifood, Fami, Pocari Sweat, and even the world's best rice ST25.
In summary, with iCheck, I find it to be a simple and useful tool because it allows me to access information about products I want to buy, am about to buy, or have already bought, giving me some peace of mind during product usage. One thing I'm not too fond of about iCheck is its slightly cluttered interface and the fact that there are still many products not yet listed on iCheck. Hopefully, they'll add more products in the future. iCheck will be suitable for users who need to check barcodes, product information, and those who want to read reviews from users who have used the product before.
