Introducing Sony Xperia 8 - Can it bring Sony back to the top?
Design
In terms of overall appearance, Sony Xperia 8 shares many similarities with its predecessor, the Xperia 10, which was introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 held in early February.
Xperia 8 maintains its familiar monolithic design, measuring 158 x 59 x 8.1mm and weighing 170g, providing a solid grip and comfortable usage for extended periods.

Optimal size for a comfortable grip
Both the front and back of the device feature premium Gorilla Glass 6, offering excellent durability and scratch resistance.
Display
The screen on Xperia 8 measures 6.0 inches, with a 21:9 aspect ratio. While the display capability of this device may not be exceptionally outstanding, it still effectively meets daily usage needs with Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2520 pixels).

The display screen is quite good
However, the advantage of this 21:9 aspect ratio lies in the ability to use two apps simultaneously through the split-screen feature, providing much greater convenience and significantly more content display compared to other products in the same segment.
Configuration
Powering the Xperia 8 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. The configuration can be considered adequate and worth the investment for users.
The default operating system out of the box is Android Pie 9.0 with a customized interface named Xperia UI.

Good configuration within its segment
Additionally, this Xperia 8 model features a fingerprint sensor located on the right side of the device. Furthermore, it includes other details such as a microSD card slot, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The device also supports wireless audio transmission technology LDAC, Hi-Res Audio, and Sony's exclusive DSEE HX technology.
Camera System
On the rear side of the device, Sony equips a dual-camera system arranged horizontally, which appears distinctive compared to other smartphones currently available (where cameras are arranged vertically). This dual-camera system comprises a 12MP main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and a depth sensor supporting portrait mode with an 8MP resolution, f/2.43.
A notable feature of this camera system is its support for 2x optical zoom, recognition of 13 different scene types, and recording of 4K slow-motion videos at 120fps.

The camera system is extremely valuable
As for the front-facing camera, the selfie camera on Xperia 8 features an 8MP resolution, f/2.0 aperture, and supports some basic beautification technologies, yet it still manages to deliver extremely sharp and magical selfies.
Battery Capacity
The Xperia 8's battery capacity is relatively low compared to the current average, at only 2760mAh. However, Sony confidently asserts that this new generation battery can meet the usage needs of most users for up to 2 years without experiencing performance degradation like other phones in the market.

However, the company has not disclosed whether the device supports fast charging technology or not.

Users will also have 4 color options: Black, White, Orange, and Blue.
