Crispy tofu, steamed meat, fried fish cakes, and fresh herbs are placed on the pizza crust, creating a unique and enticing dish that has captivated many eager diners.
Experience the innovative Pizza Bun Dau Mam Tom, a culinary delight emerging in Saigon.
A local eatery in Saigon has added the delectable pizza bun dau mam tom to its menu since March 4th. The appearance of this dish has piqued the curiosity of many food enthusiasts, blending the flavors of Vietnamese and Italian cuisine.
The pizza crust remains true to tradition, baked with a thin layer of melted cheese. The distinctive toppings include boiled pork, tofu, and fried fish cakes, adorned with a touch of basil, coriander, and the essential mam tom sauce. Interestingly, this pizza bun dau mam tom does not feature the traditional vermicelli found in the original Vietnamese dish.

This pizza bun dau mam tom is priced at 140,000 VND and comes in a single size, unlike other pizza varieties. Customers cannot request a thin or thick crust. While savoring this dish, patrons fond of bun dau mam tom will not have the option to choose their dipping sauce or add condiments such as radishes, chili, or sugar as they would with traditional bun dau mam tom.
Residing and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Huy Hoang expressed his astonishment at this particular pastry. 'I was quite curious until I indulged in the treat. Not too shabby,' mentioned Mr. Hoang.

The fusion of cheese with steamed meat, tofu, and fried fish cakes, accompanied by shrimp paste, creates a unique flavor for the pizza. The steamed meat on top, when brought by the staff, was lukewarm, lacking juiciness. The fried tofu was burnt at the edges but lacked crispiness. Basil leaves and cilantro, known to elevate the aroma of bun dau mam tom when eaten, combined with pizza, created an unharmonious taste.
Shrimp paste is the seasoning that dictates the flavor of the dish but tends to be slightly salty. Customers cannot adjust it as they would with regular bun dau.

An employee at the branch on Thu Khoa Huan Street, District 1, revealed that as soon as the dish appeared on the menu, it became a preferred choice, especially among foreign patrons.
Before this, the brand also introduced a fish cake pizza, well-received by many customers. The components of the La Vong fish cake, such as fried fish, shrimp paste, fish sauce, roasted peanuts, and dill, are all brought together on a pizza.
