Realme recently unveiled the GT Neo5 series in the Chinese market, consisting of two versions: GT Neo5 150W and GT Neo5 240W. In reality, both versions do not differ in appearance or hardware; the difference lies in the battery capacity and fast charging capability supported by the two devices.
The realme GT Neo5 240W has been rebranded by realme as the realme GT3 for international markets. This device will also soon be available officially in the Vietnamese market, but not until May, unlike other markets where it will launch in March.
The GT Neo5 has already made its way to the Vietnamese market as imported goods from China. In this article, Mytour presents readers with an up-close look at the purple realme GT Neo5 variant, supporting 150W fast charging. The device boasts striking aesthetics, powerful hardware, and an affordable price point.
The realme GT Neo5 still features the signature packaging of the realme GT series. Regardless of the device's color variant, this year's packaging maintains its distinctive black and prominent purple tones. The package includes essential accessories such as a fast charger, USB-C charging cable, and a black silicon protective case.
As mentioned earlier, the variant featured in this article by Mytour is the purple version, supporting 150W fast charging, not the top-of-the-line 240W version. Users can also opt for black or white if they don't fancy this purple hue of the device.
The initial impression of the realme GT Neo5 is its quite eye-catching design, somewhat reminiscent of a gamer's aesthetics. The standout feature on the back is the main camera module consisting of three lenses, accompanied by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset model, and an RGB LED strip on the side. This LED strip lights up when charging and can be fully customized according to preference.
Regarding the specifications of the main camera module, the device will feature a 50MP wide-angle camera using the Sony IMX890 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro camera. The quality of this camera module is good enough to meet most users' needs.
On the front, the realme GT Neo5 features a 6.74-inch display, utilizing an AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. This screen is a 10-bit color panel, capable of displaying over 1 billion different colors. Additionally, it supports HDR10+ and boasts a peak brightness of up to 1400 nits.
This display employs a 'hole-punch' design with a 16MP selfie camera placed in the center of the top bezel of the screen. Furthermore, realme has also integrated an optical in-display fingerprint sensor below the screen, allowing for more convenient usage. The entertainment experience with this screen is excellent, exceeding the expectations of average users.
In the side bezel area, this is where the device's connectivity ports and physical buttons are located. This frame is only made of plastic, a characteristic feature of current mid-range to high-end Android devices.
In terms of performance, the realme GT Neo5, as mentioned earlier, is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a flagship chip from the latter half of 2022. Although slightly inferior to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it remains one of the most powerful chips currently available, fully capable of smoothly handling all popular high-graphics games on the market.
Mytour tested the machine's performance using AnTuTu Benchmark 9 and Geekbench 6 software, and the scores were quite impressive.
The realme GT Neo5 offers various memory options such as 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 16GB RAM, 512GB 16GB RAM, 1TB 16GB RAM. The device features a 4600mAh battery for the 240W version and a 5000mAh battery for the 150W version. With the included 240W charger, the device can charge 20% in just 80 seconds, and fully charge in about 9 minutes. As for the 150W version, it takes approximately 15 minutes to fully charge the device's battery. The device runs on Android 13 with realme UI 4.0 pre-installed.
It's important to note that the Chinese domestic version will be network-locked and unable to use Vietnamese carrier SIM cards. To unlock the network, users need a 'network unlock' provided by realme. There are now several methods to remedy the network lock issue, but Mytour will not address them in this article.
In terms of pricing, the realme GT Neo5 hits the shelves in the Chinese market with prices starting from 8.7 million dong to 11.1 million dong for the 150W and 240W versions respectively. Some stores in Vietnam are selling the GT Neo5 starting from 8.9 million dong to 11.9 million dong.
Realme GT Neo5 will soon be officially available in Vietnam under the name realme GT3, with an expected competitive price.
