According to MasterCard's survey, Vietnam ranks 6th from the bottom among 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, with only 20% of respondents saying they have the habit of tipping when using services at restaurants and hotels.

Thai consumers demonstrate themselves as the most generous when it comes to tipping, with 8 out of 10 leaving tips on average and securing the top position among the 16 surveyed countries. Bangladesh, India, and the Philippines also stand out with high tipping rates, at 80%, 78%, and 73% respectively. Meanwhile, Japan is perceived as the most financially conservative in tipping culture in the region. Only 4% of Japanese respondents express their willingness to leave tips.
'This survey provides us with a unique insight into tipping culture, helping travelers and foreigners gain a better understanding of this culture in different countries,' shared Georgette Tan, Head of Communications for Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa at MasterCard.
