On January 26th, Apple rolled out iOS 15.3, a significant update aimed at addressing lingering issues from iOS 15.2 for all supported iPhone users. So, what's new in iOS 15.3? Which phones are eligible for the iOS 15.3 upgrade? Should users make the move to iOS 15.3?

What's new in iOS 15.3? Should you update to iOS 15.3?
Firstly, let's take a look at the fixes Apple has addressed in the latest iOS 15.3:
1. Safari Bug Fixes
iOS 15.3 brings no major significant changes; instead, it primarily focuses on addressing the most critical issue – a security vulnerability in the Safari browser. Specifically, when accessing websites containing malicious code, users are at risk of exposing their browsing history and having their Google account information stolen.

This malicious code is related to a Javascript IndexedDB programming function, which stores information about the URLs users have visited and their Google login information.
It's crucial to update to the latest iOS immediately, especially if you're using Chrome, to fix this serious vulnerability. Otherwise, you risk exposing personal information and losing money, as Chrome on iOS 15.2 remains vulnerable. If you're using a Mac, you'll also need to upgrade to macOS 12.2, which includes a similar Safari fix. So, if you're wondering whether to update to iOS 15.3 or not, the answer is definitely 'yes.'
2. IOMobileFrameBuffer Bug Fix
iOS 15.3 also addresses a memory-related bug that could allow malicious apps to execute arbitrary code with admin privileges. This security flaw could easily lead to data theft as attackers would have admin rights to access the system.
Apple states that this bug may have been exploited multiple times, meaning numerous attackers may have discovered and used it, potentially affecting some iOS users.
3. Fixing Thumbnails Issue with HomeKit Camera:
iOS 15.3 addresses the issue where HomeKit Camera thumbnails couldn't refresh for some users in the Home app.

Thumbnails for HomeKit Secure Video cameras added to the Home app provide a quick view of recent recordings, and typically, these thumbnails automatically refresh periodically. In recent weeks, some users have been unable to refresh the thumbnails, but this issue appears to have been resolved by Apple in iOS 15.3.
4. Miscellaneous Enhancements and Minor Bug Fixes

iOS 15.3 update also addresses several other vulnerabilities with ColorSync, Crash Reporter, iCloud, and Kernel, although none of these are known to have been extensively exploited by hackers.
When a patched vulnerability is widely exploited by hackers, Apple notifies users, but that's not the case with these issues. The only extensively exploited vulnerability known is the IOMobileFrameBuffer bug mentioned above.
You can find detailed information about all the fixed vulnerabilities in iOS 15.3 in Apple's security support documentation.
Should You Update to iOS 15.3? Devices Eligible for iOS 15.3 Update

The iOS 15.3 update, when released, will address some lingering issues from the previous version, preventing users from being affected by regrettable incidents if targeted by security vulnerabilities that could lead to the exposure of personal information for malicious purposes.
So, if you're using iOS 15, in my opinion, you should update to iOS 15.3 immediately to have the best user experience. Because this is an upgrade to fix minor issues, all devices on iOS 15.2 will be upgraded to iOS 15.3.
