According to the data, it reveals how many iPhones and iPads are running iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, measured by devices transacting on the App Store until February 14. iOS 16 is compatible with iPhone 8 and above, while iPadOS 16 is compatible with all models, some 2017 models, and budget iPads released since 2017.

Apple's website states that iOS 16 is installed on 72% of total iPhones and on 81% of iPhones introduced in the last 4 years. According to Apple, 20% of total iPhones are still running iOS 15, while 8% are running iOS 14 or older.

On the other hand, iPadOS 16 has been installed on 50% of compatible iPhones and 53% on total iPad models released in the last 4 years. The percentage of tablets running iPadOS 15 remains relatively high at 35%, while 13% of devices are running iPadOS 14 or older.
It's noted that Apple shared statistics on iOS 15 usage in January 2022, while data on iOS 16 usage was published in February. Therefore, the time difference does not allow for a direct comparison between these two iOS versions. However, with an additional month, it seems that user adoption rates for iOS 16 will not differ significantly from iOS 15.
