In the latest Power On update, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reveals that the forthcoming major update, iOS 16.2, may be introduced in mid-December (alongside iPadOS 16.2) with some anticipated changes as follows:Live Activities for sports tournaments on TV
iOS 16.2 will reintegrate the Live Activities feature for specific sports tournaments within the integrated TV app. Users will be able to follow real-time match updates on the lock screen or Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models.
New Sleep Widget on the lock screen
iOS 16.2 will introduce a new Sleep widget for the lock screen with 3 options:- Display user's sleep duration
- Show bar chart indicating sleep quality
- Show sleep time along with illustrative images

Freeform App
Announced at WWDC, this is a new Apple app that allows users to share ideas with friends and colleagues, similar to collaborating on a single whiteboard using text, video, images, and more. Freeform is now available for developers and Public beta users.
External Screen Support in iPadOS 16
iPadOS 16.2 will reintroduce the ability to support external screens for certain iPad models. Prior to the release of iPadOS 16, Apple had announced that they would temporarily postpone this feature for iPad and would reintroduce it later this year. This feature will allow users to connect their iPad to an external screen and use Stage Manager to multitask with multiple windows and apps running simultaneously.
Since the expected release date of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 is still quite far off, Apple may still add additional features and new changes to the update. Following iOS 16.2 in December, the company is expected to continue releasing iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.3 around February and March to coincide with the release of new Mac machines, Gurman noted.
