Guide to upgrading your device to iOS 8
Important Notes:
- Back up your device via iTunes or iCloud before upgrading to iOS 8. Refer to the iOS device backup process.

Method 1: Directly upgrade through OTA update (For non-Jailbroken devices):
Enable Internet connection via WIFI or 3G on your device. For a stable and uninterrupted upgrade process, it's recommended to use WIFI.
Access Settings>General>Software Update to check for updates and upgrade to iOS directly on your device.
Note: For non-Jailbroken devices, you can still choose to upgrade via iTunes instead of opting for direct OTA updates.
Method 2: Upgrade through iOS 8 Firmware file with iTunes (For Jailbroken devices):
Requirements:
- Install iTunes on your computer, ensuring you use the latest version for stability and optimal compatibility with your device (Current latest version: 11.4.0.18).
- Ensure your device is in the list of supported devices for iOS 8 upgrade.
- Download the official iOS 8 Firmware file. Depending on your device, select the appropriate iOS 8 Firmware file (*.ipsw format) for your device.
- After the upgrade, the device will return to a non-Jailbroken state.
Step 1: Download the iOS 8 Firmware file (*.ipsw format) to your computer or laptop.
Step 2: Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPad to your computer using the USB connection cable. If the device is already connected to iTunes, it will appear as shown below.
Step 3:
- For Mac (OS X) computers: Press the Option + Restore iPhone key combination.
- For Windows computers: Press the Shift + Restore iPhone key combination.
Then, navigate to the *.ipsw file downloaded in Step 1. iTunes will automatically upgrade your device to iOS 8.
