iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have smaller main camera sensors compared to the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.Various reports from different sources including analysts Jeff Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo indicate that the two standard iPhone 15 models will be upgraded to 48 megapixels like the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to Digital Chat Station, although the standard iPhone 15 models have 48MP sensors, they use smaller stacked CMOS image sensors (CIS) compared to the Pro models, at 1/1.5 inches.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have 12-megapixel sensors with a size of 1/1.9 inches. This means that the standard iPhone 15 models will have sensors 27% larger, a significant increase but still not comparable to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models. In May, Digital Chat Station reported that the next round of sensor size increase for iPhone Pro models will occur in 2024, from 1/1.28 inches to 1/1.14 inches.
