The Face ID feature on iPhone X has always been the center of attention since its early days, replacing fingerprint security with Face ID on iPhone X instead. Will this bring more benefits to users of this device?
Apple is placing a big bet on AR (augmented reality) and this technology will soon be incorporated into the new generation of iPhones from the company. Recently, a developer introduced some amazing features of this product.
Japanese app developer Kazuya Noshiro has introduced an app that can create effects of seeing through users' faces using only the camera on iPhone X.
In a short video posted on Twitter, Noshiro demonstrated how using a face mask and the app allows iPhone X to see through people's heads and display objects behind them.
The app is developed on the Unity game development platform and relies on a rather simple approach. Firstly, iPhone X captures a room image using the front camera, then scans the user's face, and processes the image to extract the entire background when moving around the room.
No release date information available for the app
Looking through everything seems to work quite well and the transparent effect is applied to Noshiro's face. But if you look closely, you'll see that this method depends on lighting conditions and different backgrounds.
The iOS app is currently not available for download, and Noshiro hasn't revealed when this app will be released to the market. It's likely that the app will be gradually completed and users will experience it soon.
Although it's unclear at this point whether the app will become an exclusive app for iPhone X as AR also works on iPhone 8 and iPhone 7.

There's no doubt, AR technology will appear on new generations of iPhones, but whether the mentioned app will succeed remains an unanswered question and it's also difficult to determine its true purpose.
