Since its debut, iPhones have used Lightning ports. However, recent leaks suggest Apple is transitioning to USB-C on its 2023 iPhone lineup. Interestingly, a new report reveals Apple plans to include this connector in older iPhone models and Plus variants.
Will Apple Soon Launch iPhone 14 with USB-C Port? This information was uncovered by a developer named Aaron on X (formerly Twitter). While analyzing tvOS 17 beta 5 code, Aaron discovered two iPhone models not present in earlier betas. Moreover, these models have entirely different code names from the 2023 iPhone models found in older tvOS software versions.
This has led many to speculate that the new iPhone models with the code names iPhone14,1 and iPhone14,9 found in the software are the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, equipped with USB-C charging ports.
Currently, there is no certainty that Apple will refresh its older iPhones and switch to USB Type-C instead of Lightning. However, if today's leaks are accurate, Apple's decision seems understandable, especially if they aim to sell their older iPhone models in European countries. Let's wait and see what surprises the Apple camp has in store for fans!
