QUESTION: My baby is very selective about formula milk. I've tried giving him Wakodo from Japan and aptamil from my brother, but he always gets constipated. After switching to Morinaga milk from Japan, he no longer gets constipated but gains weight slowly. I took him to a nutrition clinic, and the doctor said my baby is underweight, about 200g less than the standard weight chart. So, I switched to using S26 milk because I want him to gain weight better. S26 does seem to help with weight gain, but now he's constipated again. I'm really struggling with choosing the right milk for my baby. I'm thinking of giving him both Morinaga and S26 at the same time. Any experienced moms, please advise and give me some tips. Thank you in advance.
(thu.vt…@gmail.com)Morinaga milk - the top choice for babies with constipation
Due to the individual nature and condition of each baby, they may be suitable for one type of formula milk or even multiple types of milk.
Many mothers actually choose to combine using two types of formula milk for their babies to ensure they receive a variety of nutrients to support their development. This method can be okay if mothers alternate between the milks reasonably (alternating feedings or morning – afternoon, etc.).
However, mothers need to remember that it is ABSOLUTELY not advisable to mix two types of formula milk in the same bottle or give the baby both types of milk at the same time (even if separately prepared) because the mixture of these milks can affect the absorption concentration and may cause digestive issues for the baby.
S26 helps babies gain weight well but can be a bit heaty
Furthermore, each type of formula milk has different ingredients and nutrient levels, so mixing them can lead to interactions or excess nutrients which can have serious health consequences and affect the baby's ability to absorb nutrients.
So, you can still use both Morinaga and S26 formula milk for your baby. However, you need to pay special attention to what we advised and mentioned above.
