Not long ago, reports indicated that the soon-to-be-launched FE would use the Exynos 2200 SoC, confirmed by Geekbench listings. However, certain markets like the U.S. will receive a variant with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC for this model. Now, a recent source reveals that Samsung is exploring the possibility of reintroducing its premium Exynos chip to the series in specific regions.
According to the latest leak, Samsung may opt for the new Exynos 2400 chip for the upcoming Galaxy set to debut early next year. The GPU on this chip is rumored to have four times the compute units of the Exynos 2200's Xclipse 920, promising a substantial boost in graphics performance.
Furthermore, initial CPU benchmark scores suggest its single-core performance is close to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, with a 20% higher multi-core performance. Of course, the Exynos 2400 will have to compete with the Gen 3 chip, so it's too early to predict how these two chips will square off against each other.
In a conversation with Pocket-lint, Ben Wood, Director of Analysis and CMO at CCS Insight, shared,
I would be surprised if Samsung decides to go back to using Exynos for key markets in Europe. However, we might see that in smaller markets to ensure Samsung's in-house platform continues to play a role. There's also a possibility that Samsung wants to challenge Qualcomm to some extent, which could be fueling the recent rumors.
Let's wait and see what surprises Samsung has in store for the fans!
