The reason Samsung's plan is linked to Apple's product roadmap is because all the products in this plan use Samsung screens. Based on leaked information, an AR device will launch in three years along with a foldable iPad. Similar to Samsung Securities, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicts a 20.3-inch display device to debut in 2027.
Samsung Securities' plan also discloses the timeline for the release of foldable iPhone and OLED iPad, among many other products. The accuracy of this information is uncertain, but if true, it seems Apple is gearing up for comprehensive upgrades across its products.
However, it's worth noting that Apple prioritizes profits above all else. If the market doesn't respond well to devices similar to those of other companies, Apple may entirely halt their release. Before launching AR glasses, Apple still needs to address pricing issues for its Apple Vision Pro to ensure sufficient sales.
Furthermore, due to the need for lightweight AR glasses, the company's engineers will encounter challenges such as reducing weight by using smaller batteries and optimizing every component of the glasses. A former employee was reportedly skeptical about this project, but the team continues to push forward to satisfy Apple's CEO Tim Cook.
The biggest hurdle is to use a chip that can deliver the performance of current-generation iPhones while consuming 1/10 of the energy to avoid overheating. With these obstacles, Apple's introduction of AR glasses by 2027 could be entirely delayed.
Even foldable iPhone and iPad models are still in the research and testing phase. Apple will only launch them when Samsung displays meet Apple's stringent standards.
