The fourth wave of Covid-19 has heavily impacted provinces and cities like Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City,... and particularly affected passenger transport services. During this period, flights between HCMC and Hanoi have undergone significant changes in frequency. However, flight tickets still remain very competitively priced.
Flight tickets from Saigon to Hanoi are operated by airlines with a total frequency of 18 flights per day. Meanwhile, flights from Hanoi to Saigon have a frequency of 21 flights per day (halved compared to before the outbreak).

Are passengers flying from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) to Hanoi subject to quarantine?

For passengers who meet the requirements set by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Health, when flying from Saigon to Hanoi, centralized quarantine is not required. Instead, they should monitor their health at home or their place of residence and follow Covid-19 prevention measures as stipulated by the central government and the city.

During the trial period of domestic flights resuming (10/10/2021 - 20/10/2021), passengers flying from Saigon (HCMC) to Hanoi are required to undergo 7-day centralized quarantine at designated hotels or the city's centralized isolation area. After completing the centralized quarantine period, passengers must continue to monitor their health at home/place of residence for an additional 7 days.
Additionally, passengers need to obtain confirmation from the local authorities at their place of residence in Hanoi regarding transportation arrangements and the location of the new quarantine hotel before being allowed to board flights to Hanoi (passengers must contact the quarantine facility directly to make reservations for quarantine hotels).

Starting from 0h on 22/7/2021, individuals flying from Saigon to Hanoi must undergo centralized quarantine at one of the designated quarantine facilities in the city as coordinated by the health authorities.

According to the latest COVID-19 prevention information in various provinces and cities, passengers flying from Saigon to Hanoi are required to submit health declarations and undergo 14-day home quarantine (except for those returning to Hanoi for official duty and complying with all disease prevention measures as stipulated by the Ministry of Health). Specifically:
- During the first 7 days of quarantine, testing is required 3 times (on the first day, the third day, and the sixth day after returning from epidemic areas)
- For the following 7 days, self-monitoring of health at home is required.
According to information from the Government and Hanoi Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Hanoi), starting from 15/5/2021, individuals flying from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) to Hanoi are advised to submit health declarations and voluntarily undergo at least 14 days of home quarantine, limiting contact and avoiding crowded places during the quarantine period, counted from the date of return.
For cases with symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, etc., immediate contact with the nearest medical facility for advice and testing is required.
Therefore, individuals traveling from Saigon to Hanoi must comply with the requirement to declare their health status and undergo home quarantine to ensure social safety. Those who test positive for Covid-19 and violate quarantine regulations, leading to the spread of the disease in the community, will be prosecuted and fined according to the law.
