It Takes Two is hailed as the best game of 2021.
Last night, according to Vietnam time, the grandest event of the global gaming industry - The Game Awards 2021, officially took place at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, USA. A monumental surprise unfolded at this year's awards ceremony. For the first time in history, a platform game clinched victory in the 'Game of the Year' category.

The title we're discussing here is It Takes Two, an adventure, action-packed platformer published by Electronic Arts. To secure this prestigious title, EA's game surpassed several heavyweight contenders such as Deathloop, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and notably, Resident Evil Village by Capcom.
Developed by Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios, the minds behind A Way Out, It Takes Two is an impressive-looking game entirely built on split-screen co-op gameplay. The central characters in It Takes Two are Cody and May, a couple on the brink of divorce. Cody and May find themselves at odds regarding May's dedication to work, with May feeling unappreciated by Cody's lack of support.

After informing their daughter Rose of their impending divorce, Rose runs off with homemade dolls resembling her parents and places them in the family shed. In an attempt to mend her parents' relationship, Rose orchestrates dramatic scenes using the dolls.
An odd occurrence unfolded. Cody and May find themselves trapped inside the dolls, the result of a tear shed by their daughter accidentally hitting the dolls. In dire straits, Cody and May must journey together not only to overcome the unique challenge but also to mend their marriage. Thus, an intriguing journey unfolds, drawing players into the tightly woven and captivating narrative of the game.
The triumph of It Takes Two at The Game Awards 2021 reflects a year without many impressive blockbusters in the global gaming scene. Most major titles were either delayed or failed to launch successfully. Nonetheless, we should extend congratulations to the development team of It Takes Two. They are deserving of what they have accomplished in 2021.
