This beauty declined the opportunity to become the romantic lead in Fifty Shades.
Despite causing quite a stir upon release, Fifty Shades still became one of the projects garnering immense public attention. The movie tells the love story akin to a romance novel between CEO Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele - a young college student who steps in for her friend to interview for a job and ends up falling for the CEO himself. Actress Dakota Johnson portrayed Ana, a vulnerable yet internally resilient character, finding success on her own terms.
However, the only shining moment of this iteration of Fifty Shades almost went to another renowned beauty, who declined due to haunting reasons.

However, before Dakota Johnson took on the role of the romantic lead in Fifty Shades, the initial choice was none other than Emilia Clarke. The Mother of Dragons from the hit series Game of Thrones was impressed by the director's vision but ultimately had to decline the offer.

According to Clarke's sharing with The Hollywood Reporter in 2019, the reason she didn't want to star in Fifty Shades was because of its explicit scenes. 'The last time I filmed intimate scenes was a long time ago, and afterward, I was constantly questioned about it just because I'm a woman. It made me incredibly uncomfortable and tired because ultimately, I'm just acting. So when the offer came, I had to decline,' she said.

Therefore, joining Fifty Shades would stir up many unpleasant memories for her, even potentially creating new ones that haunt the actress. 'There's no way I'm stepping into that situation again,' Clarke asserted. Consequently, Dakota Johnson then became the leading lady of Fifty Shades, also a rare bright spot in this relatively poorly rated film.

Despite passing up the opportunity to join an enticing film project, Emilia Clarke remains a sought-after name in Hollywood. She solidified her role as Daenerys in Game of Thrones, then continued to excel in various films like Me Before You, Last Christmas, and an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster.
