Recently, according to CNN, a town in Italy named Sambuca di Sicilia, situated in the Agrigento province, Sicily region, has announced details about selling houses here starting from only 2 Euros.
Italian Town Causes Internet Sensation by Offering Houses for Just Over 2 USD
The local authorities of Sambuca di Sicilia revealed their plan to sell affordable houses, starting at approximately 1 euro (over 1 USD), in 2019. This sudden announcement drew global attention, resulting in a large influx of reporters and foreigners coming to Sambuca in search of a budget-friendly home.

During that time, some houses in Sambuca were sold for exactly 1 euro, but there were also houses reaching a price of 25,000 euros (around 29,000 USD). Furthermore, the remaining houses were primarily sold for 6,000-12,000 USD after auctions.

After two successful years of the auction plan, the authorities of Sambuca have recently decided to continue the sale. This batch includes 20 abandoned houses in the town. Following the earthquake in 1968, this area suffered severe damage, with most of these houses in need of repair. Additionally, some houses are filled with forgotten old belongings. Perhaps, this is the reason why they are priced so affordably.

These houses will be auctioned off as late as 5/11. Since they are government-owned, the buying process will be much smoother.

The local authorities initiate the auction of houses at the same time as Italy gradually reopens. The country begins welcoming tourists after a period of border closures and Covid-19 restrictions.
