Currently, James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken on the roles of Co-Chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, a division specializing in producing film and television projects based on DC Comics properties.
Following this, this executive duo quickly set out to craft a plan to reset the entire DC universe. Recently, James Gunn has dedicated time in his announcement video to discuss some pre-existing DC projects slated for release this year. One of them is The Flash, marking the return of Ezra Miller.

1. James Gunn lauds The Flash as one of the finest superhero movies
As co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn unveiled details about the studio's latest project. The director also commented on DC's upcoming 2023 film, The Flash.
James Gunn praises: 'The Flash is one of the best superhero films I've ever seen'.
He mentioned that both himself and Safran contributed ideas to this film, but neither made significant changes. For them, Andy Muschietti, directing the standalone superhero speedster film portrayed by Ezra Miller, has exceeded expectations.

3. For Ezra Miller, Peter Safran is fully supportive
In August last year, Ezra Miller spoke out, apologizing after a series of legal controversies. The actor stated he's seeking treatment for 'complex mental health issues'. Specifically: 'I want to apologize to all those who have been disappointed and frightened by my past behavior. I am committed to taking the necessary steps to return to a healthy, safe, and dynamic lifestyle.... I understand that I am facing complex mental health issues and have begun continuous treatment.'
Now Peter Safran says Ezra Miller is fully committed to recovery.
The co-CEO of DC Studios spoke further about the actor's continued involvement with DC: 'And we fully support the recovery journey Ezra is currently undertaking. At the right time, we'll discuss when he feels ready, and together, we'll find the best path forward.'
In the past, Miller has portrayed the superhero The Flash in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017) in the DC Extended Universe.
