Yes, you read that right. Japan has confirmed the opening of international tourism for independent travelers starting from October 11, 2022. So now, #teamKlook can finally resume the dream of traveling to Japan.
Ever since before the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan has always been a hot spot on the Asian travel map. From shopping sprees in Tokyo, exploring the famous lakes near Mount Fuji, spending a day at Tokyo Disney Resort, or taking the family to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Tokyo, all are memorable and complete experiences.
Although welcoming tour groups last month, the recent announcement by the Japanese government has made the autumn in the land of the rising sun even more eagerly anticipated. Japan officially welcomes independent international travelers back.
These reports were confirmed on September 22, 2022, by the Prime Minister of Japan - Fumio Kishida - during a press conference in New York. Accordingly, border control policies will be relaxed from October 11, 2022, including the removal of restrictions on the number of tourists, continued visa-free travel (for tourists from certain countries), and allowing independent travelers to return.

Before COVID-19, Japan allowed tourists from 68 countries and regions, including the United States and Singapore, to stay for 90 days without a visa. The number of tourists reached a record high of nearly 32 million in 2019, dropping to about 246 thousand in 2021.
