A coffee spot on Hoa Mai Street (Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City) attracts visitors with its vibrant red hues. The cafe, designed in the cultural style of Japan, has been in operation for just over a month.

On various floors, images of the auspicious Maneki Neko are scattered throughout, from doors and windows to hallways and ceilings. Maneki Neko, a common charm in Japanese culture, is used to wish for health and protection from nuisances, evil spirits, and illnesses for the homeowner.

'I have always been passionate about traditional Japanese culture, which has unique and distinctive features. After several visits to Japan and experiencing the intriguing cafes there, I decided to open a coffee shop that recreates the essence of this country,' shared Mr. Tran Tuan, the owner.

The rooms in the cafe are meticulously designed to resemble the historic Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho alley in Tokyo. This nearly century-old alley attracts visitors with its cluster of bars, cafes, sake joints, ramen shops, and more. The owner sourced lanterns, paintings, hanging curtains—all imported from Japan. Even the chairs were crafted by specialized artisans, featuring an authentic Japanese backless design. The striking red color dominates the ambiance, symbolizing the sun, luck, passion, and enthusiasm in Japanese culture. Red is prominently used in celebrations like Tet, weddings, graduations, and in religious establishments.

Patrons can also select coffee beans based on preferences and brew their own. The menu details colors, flavors, and characteristics for guests to choose their perfect drink. The owner sources coffee directly from farms in Da Lat and Dak Lak. If patrons choose to brew their own, staff will prepare water, coffee beans, syphon brewing equipment, and provide basic brewing instructions.

'Using the syphon brewing method is quite popular worldwide, but I only discovered it recently. Brewing my own coffee gives me a fresh experience in coffee appreciation,' shared customer Khanh Hoang. Coffee prices in the establishment range from 30,000 to 40,000 VND. If patrons choose to brew their own, there is an additional fee of around 15,000 VND.
