Interested in having your own personal maid? You'll be pleased with the maid cafe ambiance in Saigon.

Diverging from the conventional cafe trends and embracing serene moments, The Other Person cafe adopts the maid cafe concept—a trend popular in Japan. Originating in Japan in 2001 with the opening of Cure Maid in Tokyo, the maid cafe trend has since spread to countries like China, South Korea, Taiwan, and even the United States. However, this style has yet to become widespread in the Vietnamese market, and The Other Person is one of the first cafes to embrace it.

The cafe is divided into two areas: the ground floor and the mezzanine. The ground floor is adorned in a sweet style with miniature macaron models, giant cakes, or white piano models, evoking the ambiance of Japanese manga scenes. Meanwhile, the mezzanine area is themed after the Totoro animated film. Here, guests can sit comfortably in a cat bus and even take photos with the giant stuffed Totoro.

Additionally, the mezzanine area features a VIP room for groups to engage in Xbox gaming or watch popular anime movies. If gaming or movies aren't your preference, you and your friends can borrow unique wooden pull-out games or Uno card sets. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and are willing to assist if you're unfamiliar with the games.

Furthermore, all staff members here dress in maid and butler-style attire, leaving many customers feeling astounded as if stepping into another world upon entering The Other Person Cafe. Personally, my first visit left me quite bewildered when the staff addressed me as 'Madam/Sir,' despite having heard about the place beforehand. Notably, all servers are professional cosplay enthusiasts and are exclusively female.

Furthermore, frequent visits to the cafe will earn you points. Upon reaching a certain milestone, you'll have the privilege of 'owning' a staff member for a set period. This means that when you visit, that staff member will exclusively serve you, engaging in conversation and games, only serving others with your permission. However, other patrons can also challenge for your 'maid' through games like Xbox or Uno.

On the flip side, The Other Person is a must-visit destination to experience its uniqueness. It may rekindle memories of manga from our childhood, and who knows, you might even make friends with others who share your interests in anime or manga here. It's this uniqueness and charm that makes The Other Person a favorite spot for many young Saigonese and cosplay enthusiasts.
