Two renowned football players have decided to invest in an Esports organization founded by De Gea.
Last week, the Spanish Esports organization Rebels Gaming announced that professional footballers Juan Mata and Bruno Fernandes have become shareholders. This organization was established in 2021 by Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. Mata and Fernandes are certainly no strangers to De Gea as they have played together at Manchester United.

Furthermore, this investment marks Mata and Fernandes' first breakthrough into the Esports industry. Similar to other football players like Sergio Agüero and Jesse Lingard. Rebels Gaming currently has teams competing in games such as Rainbow Six Siege, VALORANT, and League of Legends, along with content creator management.
In 2022, Rebels Gaming's VALORANT team won the first phase of VRL 2022 Spain. In June, Rebels' Rainbow Six team emerged victorious in season 4 of Spain Nationals organized by Ubisoft and Esports production company Cabal.
The trend of football players and clubs engaging in Esports is continuously growing. Costa Rican football club Club Sport Herediano established an Esports department earlier this year with plans to participate in Rocket League, League of Legends, and FIFA. Surely, the Vietnamese gaming community still remembers the Thai Liên Quân team under the management of Valencia CF.
De Gea comments on the presence of new shareholders: 'I am delighted to have the trust of two fantastic teammates and above all, friends; I know both will bring positive values to the Esports field.'
