(Homeland) - The capacity of the APG undersea fiber optic cable is currently only restored to 50%.
The error on branch S7 of the newly repaired APG undersea cable was fixed on June 29, but a new error has arisen on branch S1.7 of this cable. The capacity of the APG route is currently only restored to 50%.

Thus, the Internet connection channels of the APG cable from Vietnam to international destinations via two directions, Hong Kong and Japan, have been restored, but the route to Singapore is affected. Therefore, the quality of international Internet connections cannot return to normal yet.
The cause as well as the time to resolve the incident on the APG route has not yet been notified to partners by the managing unit.
Vietnam currently has five active undersea fiber optic cable routes including AAG, APG, IA, SMW3, and AAE-1. In February of this year, for the first time, all five routes encountered incidents affecting international Internet in Vietnam. By May of this year, four routes IA, SMW3, AAE-1, and AAG have completed repairs and are operating normally. The APG route, on the other hand, was repaired on June 29, but has just encountered the aforementioned new error.
The occurrence of undersea fiber optic cable breakages has become quite frequent in recent years, with each disruption lasting for a month. This greatly impacts the speed and quality of Internet access in Vietnam.
