In the video, Hari Won's partner also shares unforgettable experiences during 24 hours of quarantine awaiting investigation, unable to use a phone, confined to a temporary detention room. Upon returning to South Korea, he was further isolated in a quarantine room for visa-related issues for 3 hours before boarding a flight to Vietnam.
He also concludes that this is a valuable experience for artists touring the United States. If you're going to the US on a P3 visa, you need to carefully note the deadlines on the visa to avoid unfortunate incidents, even if you've sought help from third parties or visa services.
People traveling abroad in general, and to the US in particular, need to be aware that even if their visa is still valid, customs officials in the destination country may have reasons to deny entry, even if you've boarded the plane legitimately.
- If planning a trip to the US, you should note:
When planning a trip, it's advisable to thoroughly research the regulations regarding non-immigrant entry visas to the US, as well as stay updated on any new regulations on the Embassy and Consulate General's website at the following address: https://vn.usembassy.gov/vi/visas-vi/nonimmigrant-visas-vi/
B-1/B-2 tourist visas are for individuals temporarily visiting the United States for work (B-1), tourism, or medical treatment (B-2). Generally, the B-1 visa is for guests to address work-related issues, attend scientific conferences/seminars, education, professional or business purposes, asset settlement, or contract negotiations. The B-2 visa is for leisure trips, including tourism, visiting friends or relatives, medical treatment, and activities with a specific emphasis on friendship, social, or service. Typically, the B-1 and B-2 visas are combined and issued as one visa: B-1/B-2.
Criteria
When applying for a B-1/B-2 visa, you must prove to the consular officer that you meet the requirements for a visa under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Section 214(b) of the INA considers all B-1/B-2 visa applicants as intending immigrants. Therefore, you need to demonstrate that you do not have such intention by providing evidence:
- The purpose of your trip is temporary, such as for business, tourism, or medical treatment.
- You intend to stay for a specific, limited period.
- Provide evidence of financial means to cover expenses while in the US.
- You have a residence address outside the US and other social or economic ties ensuring your return after the trip.
Visa application documents include:
- Electronic non-immigrant visa application form.
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your intended stay in the US (unless exempted by specific bilateral agreements). If your passport includes dependents, each visa applicant must submit a separate application.
- One recent 5 cm x 5 cm photograph taken within the last 6 months.
- Receipt for the non-refundable non-immigrant visa application processing fee of 160 USD paid in local currency.
In addition to these documents, you must present an interview appointment confirmation letter indicating that you've scheduled an appointment through this service. You may also bring any supporting documents you believe will assist in providing information to consular staff.
