Korean Air is expanding its winter operations to meet the rising travel demand by resuming services and intensifying activities to China, Japan, Southeast Asia, North America, and the Pacific, introducing a new route to Phu Quoc (Vietnam).
Korean Air Revives and Expands Winter Flight Network

1. Flight to Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Korean Air offers travel enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the winter season, discover beautiful landscapes, and enjoy unique experiences in various countries worldwide. Moreover, the airline will launch a new daily flight to Phu Quoc, Vietnam, starting on November 26. The daily flight departs from Seoul at 3:45 PM and arrives in Phu Quoc at 7:50 PM. In return, it leaves Phu Quoc at 9:20 PM and arrives in Seoul at 4:50 AM the next day.
The IATA (International Air Transport Association) winter season begins on the last Sunday of October and concludes on the last Saturday of March each year, with the IATA winter season for 2023 running from October 29 to March 30, 2024.
The seating capacity of Korean Air (measured in available seat kilometers or ASK) has reached approximately 85% of pre-pandemic levels in September and is anticipated to recover to over 90% with the deployment of the winter flight schedule.
After a hiatus of three years and seven months, Korean Air will progressively resume flights to three cities in China and Japan. The restoration of the network in China and Japan is relatively slower than in other regions, and reconnecting flights will aid the airline in restoring its globally expanding network.
For routes to China, Busan – Shanghai and Seoul Incheon – Xiamen will operate daily, and Seoul Incheon – Kunming four times a week. Korean Air will proactively enhance its flight capacity to China to accommodate the increasing number of Chinese tourists, especially after China resumed group tours from August to 78 countries, including South Korea, Japan, and the United States.

2. Flights to China, Japan
Starting from the end of October, the airline will resume flights from Seoul Incheon to Kagoshima, Niigata, and Okayama with three weekly flights. The resumption will bring diversity to schedules and options for those who want to explore unique destinations that smaller cities in Japan offer.
Korean Air will expand its network in China by increasing the frequency of Seoul Incheon – Beijing from daily to 18 times a week, Jeju – Beijing from 3 times a week to 4 times a week, Seoul Incheon – Shenzhen and Seoul Incheon – Xian from 4 times a week to daily, Seoul Incheon – Wuhan from 3 times a week to 4 times a week, and Seoul Incheon – Hong Kong from two daily flights to four daily flights.
Korean Air will increase the frequency on flights from Seoul Incheon to Osaka and Seoul Incheon to Fukuoka from three daily to four daily, and the Seoul Incheon to Tokyo Narita route from two daily to four daily. The airline will also expand services on the Seoul Incheon to Nagoya route to operate 17 flights per week from two flights per day until December 27.

3. Flights to Southeast Asia, North America, and the Pacific
In the Southeast Asia region, the airline will increase flight frequency on the Seoul Incheon to Bangkok route from three to five flights, the Seoul Incheon to Manila route from two daily to three daily, and the Seoul Incheon to Delhi and Seoul Incheon to Kathmandu routes from three times a week to four times a week. The frequency of the Seoul Incheon to Chiang Mai route will increase from daily to twice daily until March 2 of the following year.
The frequency of the Seoul Incheon to Auckland and Seoul Incheon to Brisbane routes will increase from 5 flights per week to daily from November 10 to March 18 of the following year. The Seoul Incheon to Las Vegas route will also increase from 4 to 5 times per week.
