The mass production of these accessories is said to have been postponed until 2025, pushing back Apple's launch schedule. Last August, Kuo said that the mass production of AirTag 2 would begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, and he predicted the product would be launched by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Kuo: AirTag 2 Launch Delayed Until 2025According to Kuo, AirTag 2 will be part of a new spatial computing ecosystem that Apple is developing, with Vision Pro playing a core role in integrating other devices. Kuo previously stated that he believes AirTag will integrate with the Vision Pro augmented reality glasses, but he has not provided much detail on what that would entail.
The Ultra Wideband chip in AirTag could potentially be used to relay location information to Vision Pro to some extent. However, we still have to see how the connection between these two products will be.
Current information about AirTag 2 remains scarce, so it's still unclear whether Apple will introduce any changes to the design or features for this accessory. The new AirTag may potentially integrate Apple's second-generation Ultra Wideband chip featured in the 15 series, enabling more accurate indoor tracking.
