Parents and grandparents, your children or grandchildren are preparing for grade 1 under the new Vietnamese education technology program. Unsure how letter pronunciation differs from the standard Vietnamese alphabet? Want to understand the latest Vietnamese alphabet and pronunciation? Explore below.

Below are the pronunciation methods of letters according to the new educational technology program, which you can use to teach your grandchildren.
According to the Vietnamese language program using educational technology, there are 37 phonemes: a, ă, â, b, c, ch, d, đ, e, ê, g, gi, h, i, kh, l, m, n, ng, nh, o, ô, ơ, p, ph, r, s, t, th, tr, u, ư, v, x, iê, uô, ươ. Including:
- 14 vowels: 11 single vowels (a, ă, â, e, ê, i, o, ô, ơ, u, ư) and 3 compound vowels(iê, uô, ươ).
- 23 consonants include: b, c, ch, d, đ, g, kh, t, v, h, l, m, n, ng, nh, p, ph, s, th, tr, x, gi, r.
The 37 phonemes are represented by 47 letters: 37 letters for the aforementioned phonemes and an additional 10 letters: k, q, gh, y, ngh, ia, ya, yê, ua, ưa.
Sounds like ch, nh, kh, ph, th, gh, ngh, gi are single sounds, not combinations of multiple sounds.
For example: The letter representing the sound /ch/: ch is formed by a curved stroke, a missing stroke above, and two hooked ends, not by combining two letters /c/ and /h/ together.
